Dedication Ceremony for the newly restored F-105 Thunderchief
Saturday, October 28th at 11am
Reserve your seat to the ceremony by calling 516-572-4066

Affectionately known as the THUD, the F-105 built in Farmingdale by Republic Aviation served throughout the Vietnam War as one of the first supersonic fighter-bombers. This single engine could deliver a greater bomb load than some American heavy bombers of World War II, including the B-17. F-105s were used as one of the primary attack aircraft of the Vietnam War with over 20,000 sorties flown. When the F-105 entered service it was the largest single seat, single engine aircraft in history.

The Cradle will commemorate the event with a special ceremony featuring former “THUD” pilots, Vietnam veteran organizations, former Republic workers and the Air Force Association. Visitors will have an opportunity to get up close to this newly restored aircraft.
