Family Winter Bird Walk for Beginners

February 3, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

It’s the Year of the Bird. Celebrate With Us!

Walk around Oakland Lake accompanied by Nancy Tognan of the Queens County Bird Club. Look for ducks, coots, grebes, swans, and more. Oakland Lake never completely freezes because of the spring water constantly feeding it, so it becomes a freshwater duck magnet when other ponds are frozen.
Meet at APEC at 9:30 for a brief orientation; learn to use binoculars and a field guide. Bring binoculars if you have them.
Although this walk is free, pre-registration is required as space is limited to 20 participants. Ages 8 and up – children must be accompanied by an adult.
