Solar Eclipse Viewing Party

August 21, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Where are you viewing the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st? NYC is not in the “path of totality,” which means that we will not be able to see a total eclipse of the Sun by the Moon, but we will be able to see a partial eclipse. Please join us between 1 – 4 pm for a viewing party. We will have a variety of ways to safely view the eclipse, and you can make your own pinhole projector. We will also have eclipse glasses to share. We do not have enough glasses for everyone to have their own, so if you have glasses, please bring them or be willing to share. We will be viewing the eclipse in Rocket Park.

Free with NYSCI admission.

Estimated Eclipse timeline:
(1:23 pm) Partial Eclipse begins: The Moon touches the Sun’s edge.
(2:44 pm) Maximum Eclipse: The Moon is closest to the center of the Sun.
(4 pm) Partial Eclipse ends: The Moon leaves the Sun’s edge.
