Cumbe is Brooklyn’s home for African dance and percussion. Our boys participated in an Uhuru class as toddlers there two years ago. The joy and spirit I felt in that class creating rhythm with my little boys will stay with me forever. It has since been a dream of mine to introduce Cumbe: Center for African and Diaspora Dance to you. We are ecstatic about this special event!

Uhuru (the Kiswahili word for “freedom”) is a lively, creative movement class featuring dance, drum and song – designed to ignite children’s creative voices and nurture their freedom of expression. Parents and caregivers should come ready to play & participate.
