Village Day Fall Festival
Rain Date: October 23 The fall harvest season will be celebrated with outdoor activities for children of all ages, including a petting zoo with popular small farm animals; hayrides around the Great Lawn to view the early fall foliage; pony rides overlooking the Long Island Sound; pumpkin painting for budding artists; a Green Grocer market featuring award-winning artisanal cheeses and farm picked vegetables. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Join the holiday cheer at Hempstead House with a celebration of holiday traditions from around the world. Festive music will play, Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit, and special guest readers will share favorite stories by the library’s roaring fireplace. Experience the wonderful benefits of yoga with family and friends. Yoga practice aligns naturally with children’s imaginations as they create the shapes of animals and plants using their bodies. They stretch, bend, reach, and balance to become trees, turtles, and more. Bring a mat for each person, and wear comfortable clothing. The Preserve is a beautiful place to discover the lifecycles of springtime, when seeds and bulbs tucked into the earth awaken and sprout, and migrating wildlife return to their warm weather home here. Activities include a guided nature walk with magnifying glasses to find signs of spring; indoor discovery stations, craft projects, and a planting project in biodegradable seed cups.
